The last time Natrona dueled Rock Springs was in September 2022, when the Mustangs won 2-0. Natrona’s first game back home after three away, and Rock Springs’ first after a week-long break, Natrona was able to break a 5-5 record, placing them at 6-5, leading against Rock Springs.
It was a close game and the Tigers put up a real fight. The board, controlled by the Mustangs, showed a match with set scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-19.
Blocks made by Brynn Sybrant and Aubry Hurst played a large part in the Mustang victory. Jos Berens was another notable player, racking up over seven successful attacks.
When asked what was her biggest motivator to keep playing, senior Brynn Sybrant credited “The team in itself. We’re all very supportive of each other.”
Natrona’s victory gives them a 9-12 overall ranking, and drops Rock Springs to 4-17 with a seven game losing streak. On the other hand, this win for the Mustangs pulled them out of their five game string of losses, possibly kickstarting a series of wins. Rock Springs was in town for just a bit longer, playing Kelly Walsh Saturday, 10/19, at 6:00pm before they have a five day break leading up to facing off against Green River. Similarly, Natrona County also had a busy Saturday, dueling Green River at home.
