Delilah Baedke answers questions at her press conference signing in the mezanine of the NCHS campus last Wednesday.

NCHS student Delilah Baedke recently signed with UW to run cross country and track. Her press conference was held in the mezanine at Natrona County High School and was attended by her fellow track team, school staff, parents, and friends. “I decided on UW because it felt like home when I visited, it was super nice, and I loved the people and the campus,” explained Baedke.

Running has always been a passion for Baedke. Her grandpa was a runner, and it runs in the family. She started running with her father when she was young, and in high school she hit her stride, taking high honors in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. Baedke took 1st place at state cross country her junior year.

She originally wanted to study nursing at UW, but with the growth that Wyoming is expected to experience over the next few years, she’s thinking about a change in career focus. “Now I’m interested in real estate,” Baedke says. “It might be stressful, but it’s good pay if you sell.” She recently had the opportunity to shadow a real estate professional and enjoyed the experience. “I really liked [the shadowing experience]. I definitely learned a lot and it seems a little harder than you would think.” She plans to focus on business at UW so she can one day become a broker and own her own real estate firm.
