NC girls basketball has a tournament in Cheyenne starting Thursday, January 6th. The Taco Johns Invite, held at several high schools in Cheyenne, draws teams from around the state and is one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year.  Going into the tournament, the Fillies have a 6-0 record, which puts them in the running to be the topped ranked 4A team in the state.

Looking back at the start of this season, the Fillies have demonstrated strong skills in defense and team work. Emma Patik #23, is the top player in the state right now. She’s the point guard, and shooting guard for the Fillies. Megan Hagar #10 is ranked #2 in the state right now, after Patik. She’s a shooting guard for the NC Fillies.

Hagar states “I think my biggest strength during the season  so far has been my connection with the team and all of us being able to work with each other and help each other out when we need it.” Many players have stated the effort this year is one of the best. Coaches have stated that they want NC Fillies to be one of the best pressing teams in the state, and they are working to meet that goal.

The Fillies have been working extra hard to get that 6-0 record and they want to continue that pattern. Be sure to look at the scores for this weekend.
