Family Recipes

Ireland Barten, Reporter

In many families there are certain traditions that have been practiced from many generations. In my family cooking is a really important tradition. My dad, especially, really loves cooking and having special traditions. The recipes he has are some of his own, but some are from his grandparents. Some of his recipes include brisket, ribs, deer steak, fish, turkey, and turkey soup.

My dad’s recipes are always from our own harvests. He takes pride in his recipes and always tries new things. His recipes are really simple and he uses many seasonings. These seasonings are onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika, basil, and many others. Using family  recipes is important because these recipes can teach you about your past relatives. You can pass them down from generations to generations, and share them with your kids or even grandchildren.

My family always tries our best to bring everyone together. When we go on family vacations, we always make an effort to keep the traditions of cooking family foods and gathering together to eat it. We always have huge buffets of food and sometimes there’s even new types of foods. It is really important to keep these traditions, so that you can be close to your family.
