NC Celebrates Valentines Day

For Valentine’s Day NC got into the spirit by selling chocolates, flowers and singing grams. The sales were organized by the sophomore Student Council. There were 149 items sold all together, out of them 63 were singing grams. After all the sales were complete, the student council ended up making over 400 dollars. February 9th and 10th, 2021 Chorale, one of NC’s chorus classes, went around the school singing and handing out little goodies to people who had a Valentine.  Out of all of the people who sent them 52 people were anonymous.

During Freshman lunch people were going up and buying flowers to give out themselves. However, there were so many bought that they ran out. To make it up to the people who didn’t get any, the NC student body bought chocolate and extra flowers to give out the next week. Chloe Chavez (12) said, “My favorite part was singing to my mom.”

The Chorale students sang small parts of the two songs Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley and I’m Yours Jason Mraz. Alex Bright (11) was one of the students singing. She said, “It was a lot of fun to sing to the people and see their face light up and even a little bit embarrassment you know, cuz you’re getting sung to, but it was really fun to do it with the people in Chorale too because it was like a fun thing to do with your classmates and it brings you together. It was just really fun because Valentine’s day is about love and coming together.”

Not only did the students get something out of this, there were some teachers. One was Matthew Neely. Students came into his classroom and sang Science Guy. NC came together and participated in a holiday. This gave students the chance to support each other and bring a little light into the year.
