Students are dressing up with themes for Homecoming Week. These themes help facilitate school spirit in students and staff.
The first theme, on Monday, Sept. 22 was Adam Sandler. Students dressed up for the theme by dressing in comfortable, oversized attire like an oversized T-shirt, oversized basketball shorts, athletic sneakers, and casual accessories. Students were also spotted wearing baseball caps and sunglasses.
Adam Sandler is a comedian who likes to dress very casually, usually with baggy T-shirts and basketball shorts. Sandler’s popularity makes this theme very easy and accessible for students and staff to participate in.
“Kids like to dress up like Adam Sandler because it’s very casual and easy and you don’t really have to go shopping for it,” said Margo Warren, advisor for student council.
Tuesday, Sept. 23 is “Rhyme Without Reason.” For this theme, pick a good friend, and try dressing in things that rhyme. For example, dress as Hannah Montana and a Banana, or Lightning McQueen and Listerine.
“I’m most excited for the wild west day because I have more of an outfit planned for that day. Dressing up is important to me just in general because it’s super fun, and dressing up for spirit week is important because it means I can show up for my school,” said senior Kristen Harper. She explained that she would like to participate in the twin and rhyme days with a friend.
Wednesday, Sept. 24 will be Western. Dress up in your best country style. From flannel, and jeans to boots and chaps. Make sure to bring a cowboy hat. Most importantly it’s an awesome opportunity to wear your new Jae Boots.
Thursday, Sept. 25 the theme will be “Twin Day.” Get together with your best friends and twin with each other. Find outfits that match or are as close as possible.
“I’m also excited for the Western day to get a chance to wear my boots. I really like to be involved with what I wear and put a lot of effort into my outfits. Dressing up gives the school a sense of community. I have a lot of great pictures and memories from last year dressing up with my friends,” said sophomore Tayler Zanolli.
Friday, Sept. 26 is Homecoming. The theme for homecoming and the dress up day is safari. Dress in your best zebra or leopard print, or dress like a safari tour guide.
