Saturday, November 10, 2018, found the NCHS Mustangs heading to the state 4A football championship game in Laramie at War Memorial Stadium.  For the third year in a row, the matchup featured the Mustangs against the Sheridan Broncs.

Defeating the Broncs in the regular season, 34-7, the Mustangs looked for a repeat win, unseating the 3-time state champs. Kickoff at 4PM made for a chilly game, but that didn’t stop the players or the fans. Mr. Grussendorf and the members of the choir performed a stunning rendition of the National Anthem to begin the festivities.

By halftime, the Mustangs kept Sheridan’s defense busy and pushed their offense away from the goal. The halftime score showed NC at 21 and Sheridan at 0. At the start of the fourth quarter, Sheridan finally scored a touchdown but Natrona was up by 28 at that time. When the clock reached zero, at the end of the game, the Mustangs became the STATE CHAMPIONS with a season record of 11-1 and a final score of 28-14.
