Nightmare on Elm Street location confirmed at NCHS

Catherine Vance, reporter

As most people of the world know, the movie “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, consists of a group of teenagers getting tormented in their dreams. The original movie (1984) was mainly about Freddy Kruger attacking Nancy Thompson and her friends in their dreams. It has been confirmed that this movie did take place at Natrona County High School as the school is located on Elm St.

Leading up to this confirmation of the location, students who fell asleep in class reported having dreams that seem to be too realistic to be dreams. Consequently, the same student generally prevents themself from falling asleep in class twice. So, the true story can’t be just a movie, right? The people that have reported these dreams have requested to remain anonymous. But certain interviews have found that the traumatizing scenes from the movies have also happened to these students and staff. As these anonymous people describe the experiences of the nightmares they have had at our school on Elm St, it does get a little heart-wrenching.

An anonymous student said,’’I was at school, lost, extremely lost. It was like a maze of lockers.” They did say that it got even worse. This particular person suffers from cryophobia, the fear of ice or cold. But the worst thing was that they were almost numb from the cold. “I was shivering, which was ironic because I live in Wyoming, but it was so much worse. Like I could barely move without my feet getting frozen to the ground.” They explained that if they hadn’t woken up, they might have froze to death.

Then one other person, who wants to remain anonymous, also had a similar experience. This anonymous source reported that they suffer from a different phobia, achluophobia, the fear of the darkness. “I was walking down the corridor, where pools of light surrounded me, then everything went completely dark. Soon I started to hear small solem voices surround me in the pitch black dark.” As they stated it, they seemed to be afraid of what was in the darkness.

Finally, probably the worst fear factor episode ever. This person suffers from necrophobia, fear of death or dead things. From the person’s perspective, they had lost someone prior to this event. “I sat in this room with the strong stench of death everywhere. The only light from the room was the small lightbulb above my head. Suddenly things around me started to move.” They had said that this experience was too traumatic to share as a quote. They had felt the cold dead hands of the person who had died before, soon the voice of this person had started to say,” APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!’’

Happy April Fools Day from the people at NCHS newspaper!
